Hi everyone,

Welcome to the third edition of Visual Playbook, an exclusive series for paid subscribers where I share art direction ideas, techniques, and mood boards that can serve as a foundation for your own projects. This series is all about inspiring you to look at images in new ways or use them as a launching pad for fresh concepts, whether it’s for a brand campaign, editorial, or a personal project.

In the last two visual playbooks we explored everyday cues and the importance of taking inspiration from simple, everyday things happening in the real world and elevating them through art direction. And in the first edition we explored a chaotic harmony in group shots. With each playbook I first introduce the overall visual technique, followed by loads of image references to get you inspired. Then I will break down conceptual starting points or techniques to bring this into your own project.

This Visual Playbook is all about lo-fi but making it elevated. We will cover different ways to make your lo-fi content feel premium. You don’t need the perfect camera and studio set up to create beautifully art directed shots. It’s all about the vision and the elements coming together. We will cover beautiful iPhone photography, using unconventional resources like your old Nintendo DS or kids camera and the importance of compositions and textures.
