Welcome to a new series I have been wanting to make for ages. It is called The Reference Wall, and the idea is simple. I pick a brand, or a designer, sometimes a filmmaker or a choreographer, and I go and find out where they actually pull from. Maybe I could even invite creatives to do their own version of this or share mine. Where the collections come from, and then how all of it travels into the campaigns and the films and the whole world they build around themselves. Some of it is sitting right there if you go looking, in interviews and show notes and the odd photograph of a studio wall.

And then there is the other half, the stuff a brand reminds me of that nobody has said out loud, which is the part I find most fun. So each one comes in two halves. What they have told us, and what I reckon is also up there. First up is Chloé, and only Chemena Kamali's Chloé, so nothing from the eras before her. I think we all agree that Chloé is the hottest brand right now, and we all seemed to be obsessed. So I was very excited to say the least to go through interviews, shownotes and everything I could possibly find about Chemena Kamali’s Chloé.

I’m particuraly excited about this one. When you look at all the raw research and references, you really start to emerge in the brand world and completely understand it. This exercise gives so much clarity as an art director to translate inspiration.
