This is so helpful, thank you so much for writing this. I’m currently working on a rebranding for my small fashion label and this has given me so much to think about.
I love this so much. I’ve been seeing brands using incomplete backgrounds a lot lately and I think it’s such an effective way of selling costumers on a fantasy while being casual enough to not feel ostentatious
Great options and recommendations! We all want to be *unique* at some point and will go to great lengths to make something that "hasn't been done before", but sometimes (most of the times) an engaging shoot will require references from past ideas that do work.
Okay, but why does this feel like the ultimate art direction survival guide?? 💡🔥 The way you broke everything down into bite-sized techniques makes it so easy to apply IRL—like, I could literally scroll through this mid-shoot when my brain short-circuits and need a quick fix. Also, love how these aren’t just aesthetic tricks but ways to make a brand’s visuals feel intentional. The “placing product out of context” (fridge edition) is SO underrated for social—nothing hooks people like a little surrealism in their feed. And the branded newspapers?? Genius for making a campaign feel collectible instead of just another ad.
Low-key bookmarking this because the way brands need actual art direction and not just vibes these days… 💀✨ Can't wait for part two!! 🚀
This is great!!
Thank you! <33
This one was a nutritious winter soup! Thank you Zoe. Putting all the techniques together with a short description as to why and how was very helpful.
Thank you so much, glad you found it useful :) 💖
Inspiring, educational and always useful 🍊

Thank you 💗 I love a little ‘bts’ peak that doesn’f hide the fact things are shot in studio, it gives such a real look and feel
